Scots OAP in hospital after large dog attacks her as she tries to defend her pet

Police have launched a probe following the brutal dog attack in Clydebank, which happened at around 3pm on Thursday.

An elderly woman and her pet were brutally attacked by a dangerous dog - leaving the OAP in hospital with bite injuries.

Police have launched a probe following the brutal dog attack in Clydebank, which happened at around 3pm on Thursday, September 19. The 81-year-old woman and her dog were walking near the junction of Beeches Road and Beeches Avenue when they were approached by a larger dog, described as light and dark brown.

The larger dog attacked the smaller one - and when the elderly woman tried to intervene, she was bitten on the leg. Following the attack, the larger dog and its owner left the scene, heading towards Beeches Avenue and Carleith Avenue.

Ambulance crews attended and the pensioner was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment. It's understood her dog also needed veterinary care. Officers from Police Scotland are now appealing for information.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist in identifying the owner of the offending dog is asked to contact cops on 101, quoting incident number 2320 of Thursday, September 19.
