Second man arrested over street death of 'caring' Scots dad in Uddingston

A second man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 'caring' Scots dad in Uddingston.

David Graham died from serious neck injuries after he was allegedly attacked in the General's Gate area of the South Lanarkshire town at around 7.35pm on Sunday, October 6. The 38-year-old father was raced to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment but sadly died on arrival.

Detectives earlier confirmed Mr Graham's death is being treated as murder. A second man, aged 38, has been arrested in connection.

Liam Kippen, 29, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Thursday charged over the father's murder. Kippen, of Motherwell, made no plea or declaration.

He was remanded in custody while the case was committed for further examination. Kippen is due to reappear in the dock within the next seven days.

Police say inquiries remain ongoing.

A statement from Police Scotland reads: "Following the death of 38-year-old David Graham from Cambuslang, officers have arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with his death. Around 7.35pm, on Sunday, 6 October, 2024, Mr Graham was walking in General's Gate when he was attacked. He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

"Inquiries are continuing."
