A baby has been airlifted to hospital after being mauled by a suspected XL Bully.

Emergency services scrambled to the scene in Hawkinge near Folkestone, Kent, following reports a toddler had been attacked by a dog. The little eight-month-old girl was rushed to a specialist London hospital. Medics say she is in a serious condition. The dog has since been destroyed.

As reported in the Mirror, police and forensics officers swarmed the scene yesterday evening, along with nine patrol cars. An 18-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control. The dog involved in the attack is reported to be a registered XL Bully breed type.
