A Stirling based charity have launched a new programme designed to ensure veterans receive any necessary support and guidance required in times of need.

Stirling Citizens Advice Bureau have launched the Veterans Housing Advice Service (VHAS) across the Stirling district for people who have served in the Armed Forces or are dependants of someone who has.

The aim of the new initiative is to prevent levels of homelessness and housing related issues by providing access to independent legal advice, information, advocacy, casework support and heritable representation.

This service provides support with housing issues to veterans regardless of whether they rent, are owner occupiers or are homeless, by assisting them with a range of issues.

These include those applying for housing or in tenancy arrangements, threats of eviction, notices to quit from a private landlord or those living in unsuitable housing.

The VHAS is offered by the CAB alongside the range of support services it already operates throughout Stirling - which includes advice on benefits, debt, workplace disputes and consumer issues.

Veterans and dependants of someone who has served the armed forces can access the Veterans Housing Advice Service on the phone on 07983451739 or 01786470239 or online at Vera.Burgos@StirlingCAB.casonline.org.uk.

They can also contact bureau@StirlingCAB.casonline.org.uk from Monday to Friday between 9.30am-5pm.
