Hardy youngsters have great fun in junior Dalbeattie Hardrock Challenge

Hardy youngsters had great fun in the junior Dalbeattie Hardrock Challenge on Saturday.

They took on a mini version of the duathlon through Dalbeattie Forest, with races and categories for all ages.

The eight to nine years category saw Mitch Stewart just edge out Stanley Wilson for the boys title, with Samuel Dickie third. Eve Young won the girls category.

Cobey Stewart retained the 10 to 11 years boys title, with Eleanor Allsop winning the girls category.

The team competition saw a tie, with Connor Hitchell and Kai Hill finishing in 16 minutes 58 seconds – the same time as Cameron Hitchell and Daniel Hart.

The 12-13 category saw Danny Allsop win the boys title and Izzy Barbour take the girls crown for the second year running. Toren Dale was first boy in the 14 to 15 years category.

And it was three in a row in the 12 to 15 years team category for Noah Crudginton and Ben Hodson, who made it a hat-trick of successes.

Girls 8-9 years: 1 Eve Young (20.36).

Boys 10-11 years: 1 Cobey Stewart (15.40); 2 Max Dunlop (16.47); 3 Tom Dunlop (18.37).

Girls 10-11 years: 1 Eleanor Allsop (17.15); 2 Rose Martin (18.40).

Team 8-11 years: 1 Connor Hitchell & Kai Hill and Cameron Hitchell & Daniel Hart (16.58); 2 Brodie Gilmour & Andrew Kalotka (17.15); 3 Declan McGhie & Ryan Kiltie (19.03).

Boys 12-13 years: 1 Danny Allsop (35.45); 2 Murray McCracken (47.01); 3 Lachlan Ross (56.17).

Girls 12-13 years: 1 Izzy Barbour (42.36); 2 Katie Dickie (50.19).

Boys 14-15 years: 1 Toren Dale (36.58); 2 Noah Gilbert (39.39); 3 Louis McEwan (46.46).

Teams 12-15 years: 1 Noah Crudington & Ben Hodson (34.03); 2 Joe Burnie & Findlay Robertson (38.48); 3 Zak McCathie & Owen Brydson (41.25).
