A teenager was left in a coma and had to have his leg amputated after a dangerous driver ploughed into him during a hit-and-run while being tailed by police.

Police officers began tailing a car after spotting it speeding, but the suspect motor quickly managed to get out of sight as they gave chase.

They then came across the youngster, after he's believed to have been hit by the vehicle before it fled the scene, and he was rushed to hospital.

The Mirror reports the boy, who has been named locally as a 17-year-old called Kayden, was rushed to hospital, where he was described as being in a coma and in a "critical condition".

It's claimed he has been operated on twice and that one of his legs has been amputated up to his thigh following the incident, which took place in Bradford, Yorkshire.

The horror crash happened on Monday, September 16, at around 8.30pm. Family friend Michaela Petty created a GoFundMe page for Kayden, who was rushed to hospital in Leeds.
