Police have confirmed the identity of human remains discovered in a field in South Gloucestershire earlier this month.

The deceased has been identified as 63-year-old David Wilson from Downend, who was reported missing at the end of September. Despite being last seen in mid-May, police efforts and two public appeals for information did not yield any confirmed sightings of him.

The sad confirmation came after forensic examination of the remains found in Emerson's Green on November 5. A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "David's next of kin have been updated and we're thinking of them."

They added that there is no evidence of suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, which remains unexplained as a forensic post-mortem examination was inconclusive.

The police are continuing their investigation and have appealed to the public for help: "If you saw David at any time between May and November or have any information which could help to establish what happened, please call 101 and give the reference 5224291560", reports Gloucestershire Live.
