But she passed away a short time later and the police probe into her death began. Tributes poured in for Sandie following ther death, with many describing her as a "lovely" woman who looked out for others.

Lorraine Grant wrote: "I'm so so sorry to hear this. I'll never forget the help you gave my sister, my thoughts are with your family and friends at this sad time xxx."

Charmain Hunter added: "Not Sandie, she was such a lovely person. I met her the day she came to Ness and kept in touch since. Oh doll, my heart breaks for u pet. RIP Sandie, 'til we meet on the other side xoxoxo".

A large police presence was seen on the estate earlier this week. One resident, who lives in Townhead, told the Record: "It's a terrible shock. My friend lives in one of the flats within the cordon and she was told she wasn't allowed to leave her home.

"I've never seen so many police in all my life. Straight away we knew something very serious had happened." Another local said: "It's really scary this happening right on your doorstep."
