A double shooting in a posh area of the city centre has left a man and an eight-year-old girl seriously injured in London's posh Kensington with the gunman still at large.
Emergency services rushed to Southern Row, W10, in London following reports of a shooting at around 5.30pm on Sunday, November 24. Medics treated the man and girl for gunshot injuries at the scene.
The Met Police have identified the victims as a 34-year-old man and a eight-year-old girl. Both remain in hospital following the horrific attack, but the force confirmed the girl is not in life-threatening condition, reports the Mirror.
Officers are waiting for an update on the man's health. A 32-year-old woman was also taken to hospital as a precaution.
Superintendent Owen Renowden, in charge of policing for Kensington and Chelsea, said: “This is an appalling incident that has left two people seriously injured, including a young girl who thankfully is in a stable condition this morning.
"I am appealing to the public who may have been in the area at the time of the shooting. Did you hear any gunshots around 17:30hrs yesterday evening? Did you see anyone fleeing from the area?
"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have any information surrounding this incident. Your information matters, no matter how insignificant you may think it is.”
Locals spoke of their shock online as they discussed crime in the area. One person said on Facebook: "That explains the helicopters past few hours overhead."
Another wrote: "Absolutely disgusting and heartbreaking. It feels like shootings are becoming more common around here. This can’t be allowed to spiral, that poor child."
A third person said: "It happened earlier today on Southern Row near the steps up to Ladbroke grove. The Helicopter was out looking as well." Someone else commented: "What on earth is going on around our area man, sickening."
Police urge anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting reference CAD5238/24NOV. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
London Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
