Man charged with attempted murder after three hit by car outside Scots nightclub

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after three people were hit by a car outside a nightclub in Moray.

Christopher Parry, 56, was arrested after police were called to the incident on Cluny Square in Buckie at around 2am on Saturday, September 21. The area in the town was cordoned off with a small grey forensic tent erected outside the Purple Nightclub.

Two men were rushed to hospital following the incident and their conditions remain unknown. Parry, from Aberdeen, appeared at Elgin Sheriff Court on Monday where he faced three separate charges of assault to injury and attempted murder.

He also faced a separate charge of assault to injury and to the danger of life and attempted murder, as well as driving under the influence of alcohol. Parry made no plea and was released on bail. He was committed for further examination and will appear at court again at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2am on Saturday, September 21, 2024, we were called to a report of three men injured after being struck by a car in Cluny Square, Buckie. Emergency services attended and two men taken to hospital.

“A 56-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court on Monday, September 23, 2024."
