Child hit by car at Scots school as emergency crews race to scene

A pupil was reportedly struck by a car outside of a Fife high school on Wednesday morning.

Emergency services rushed to Kirkcaldy High School earlier today after a pupil was involved in a 'road accident'.

Dunnikier Way in the Fife town was closed to traffic as police launched an investigation into the crash.

The school confirmed that a pupil was involved and their family is now being supported by officials.

Kirkcaldy High School rector, Christopher McKay said: "Earlier today, a young person from the school was involved in a road accident. Emergency services were contacted and attended. The young person and family are being supported, as are other young people and families who witnessed it"

Police Scotland posted on X, saying that a female had been taken to hospital.

A statement on X reads: "We received a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian in Dunnikier Way, Kirkcaldy.

" The female was taken to hospital. Enquiries are ongoing."
