Protestors have hit the streets of Scotland following the election victory of incoming US president Donald Trump.

Demonstrations, organised by Stand Up to Racism Scotland, took place tonight in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Protestors were armed with anti-Trumps signs as they gathered at the steps of Buchanan Street. Banners read: 'No to racism, No to Trump'.

Speakers rallied on Edinburgh's Princes Street with megaphones in hand, while in Glasgow demonstrators gathered at Buchanan Steps. Signs from protestors read: "Dump Trump' and 'Refugess welcome, Stop the far right.'

Stand up to Racism called for emergency protests following news that Trump had beat Democrat candidate Kamala Harris in a landslide victory in the US presidential race on Wednesday morning.

It marks a resounding victory for the Republicans, who have won the Senate and and are on track to win the House of Representatives, making it easier for Trump to pass legislation.

Trump declared victory in Florida on Wednesday morning. He said he had won a “magnificent victory for the American people” and that “America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate."
