A new project, Warmer Homes for Winter, by Lockerbie-based D&G HandyVan is to provide free kindling, kiln dried logs, coat, briquettes and peat to those most in need across the region.

Anyone who receive Pension Credit can access the service but must apply to D&G HandyVan between today (November 1) and November 22.

Manager Rachel Reekie said: “We are delighted to be able to provide this new service which is being funded by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

“There is a criteria which must be met, the essential one being that clients need to be in receipt of Pension Credit and evidence of this does need to be provided.

“Referrals are by application form and these can be obtained from ourselves by either emailing info@dghandyvan.org.uk or by phoning our office on 0800 069 9173.
