DALLAS - A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was struck while responding to a crash on highway in far North Dallas early Monday morning.
Trooper Austin Parrott was working on a single-car wreck in the northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway near Keller Springs Road shortly after 12:40 a.m. The roads were wet at the time.
The driver of a Mini Cooper plowed into the accident scene, injuring the trooper and a private security guard who had stopped to assist the trooper on the initial accident.

The trooper was taken to Plano Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.
DPS Sgt. Josue de la Cerda said Parrott suffered a serious head injury. He's now stable but remains in an intensive care unit.
The private security officer was also hit but not seriously injured.
Driver Arrested
The driver of the Mini Cooper was identified as 20-year-old Talha Noaman.
Noaman was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and later arrested for the possession of a controlled substance.
He's being held in the Collin County jail.
Traffic Update
All northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway were closed for about eight hours as officials investigated the crash.
The tollway reopened late Monday morning.
