Mosby and Suarez are accused in the death of 37-year-old Michelle Hampton.
Investigators say Hampton was found shot to death on the morning of Nov. 20 in the 4700 block of Greer Avenue in St. Louis. Investigators in St. Louis and Clayton determined that an armed suspect kidnapped Hampton earlier that morning in front of her home on Whitburn Drive in Clayton.
Police say, according to a preliminary investigation, it’s believed Mosby and Hampton were known to each other. It’s not clear how much Suarez was also known to Hampton.
According to court documents from the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office, obtained by FOX 2, Hampton’s sister saw her in the driver seat of Hampton’s vehicle with another person in the passenger seat before the vehicle took off from the home. Hampton’s sister then followed the vehicle into St. Louis, but stopped after a passenger in Hampton’s vehicle allegedly fired shots at her car.

Investigators say there was a driver in a yellow truck that followed behind both Hampton’s vehicle and her sister’s vehicle. Court documents allege Suarez drove the yellow truck shortly before Hampton was kidnapped, while Mosby was the passenger inside Hampton’s vehicle for a brief time.
After that, according to court documents, Hampton was forced into the yellow truck and brought to three different banks. She was reportedly in the back seat of the yellow truck during three attempted transactions to withdraw money from her bank accounts.
Investigators say all of these transections were caught on surveillance video, aiding in the two arrests. During the first two attempted transactions, $3,000 was withdrawn from Hampton’s accounts, despite at least one request to withdraw $10,000. During the third attempted transaction, a staff member requested Hampton to come inside. The driver in the yellow truck took off after that.
After the attempted bank withdrawals, Hampton was taken to an alley on Greer Avenue in St. Louis’ Kingshighway East neighborhood. That’s where she was stranded and found deceased with gunshot wounds.

While investigating Hampton’s death, according to St. Louis court documents, police determined that DNA evidence of Mosby and Suarez was found on several items within a nearby dumpster, including a coat with Mosby’s DNA on it. Authorities also obtained surveillance video that connected the yellow vehicle with the crime scene on Greer Avenue.
FOX 2 also obtained federal court documents, which allege that Mosby is the boyfriend of the Hampton’s sister. Documents also delve into a $40,000 settlement Hampton was holding onto for her brother.
Federal documents also show surveillance images of Hampton before the shooting and pictures from banks showing a yellow pickup truck with Hampton inside.
