Lok Sabha Winter Session Latest News: The winter session of Parliament began on Monday, November 25. Five new bills will be introduced in this session, which will run until December 20, while 11 other bills, including the Waqf (Amendment), have been listed for discussion. The government will try to pass all these bills in this session. However, the Opposition is demanding discussions on some issues and the entire session is heading to being tumultuous.
Day 1 of Parliament's Winter Session was enough for a hint into the storm the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were reading to over the next 15 days. The Congress and the Samajwadi Party launched vocal animated protests demanding discussions on the Adani charges in the US and the Sambhal clashes that claimed four lives. After this, the proceedings of the House were adjourned till tomorrow. Now the proceedings will start on Wednesday, November 27.
On the other hand, a meeting of all parties was convened on Sunday, November 24, a day before the start of the winter session of Parliament. During this, the Congress demanded a discussion in both Houses on the Adani group's bribery case and the Manipur violence. The opposition parties want answers from the government on both these issues. Here we are telling you about some such issues, on which the entire winter session could be tumultuous.
Issues Opposition Wants Discussions On
1. Adani Bribery Charges: The entire opposition is unitedly demanding a discussion on this issue. The opposition is continuously accusing the government of protecting Adani. Due to this, the proceedings of both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned till Wednesday, 11 AM. There are chances of more uproar on this issue.
2. Sambhal violence: The Opposition is also pushing for discussions on the Sambhal masjid and violence issues. The Sambhal violence has claimed 4 lives so far.
3. Manipur Violence: The Manipur violence has been going on for over 1.5 years now. The unrest has once again intensified in Manipur. The opposition has been attacking the PM on this issue from the beginning. The opposition wants a discussion on this too. There are chances of further uproar over this.
4. Delhi Pollution: The Congress moved a motion to discuss the increasing pollution in Delhi-NCR and the government's measures to address it.
5. Train Accidents: The Opposition wants to discuss the spurt in Train accidents in India that has claimed hundreds of lives over the last 10 years.
6. Waqf Bill: Apart from these, the first bill is related to the Waqf Amendment. There has been continuous uproar in the JPC on this. It is believed that there will be a lot of uproar in the House during the discussion on this Bill as well.
7. One Nation, One Election: The 'One Nation One Election' bill is also expected to be introduced in Parliament in this session. If the Bill is tabled, the opposition parties may create a ruckus over it.
What Happened In Parliament On Day 1?
The Parliament's Winter Session proceedings started on Monday on a stormy note with protests in both houses. First, Speaker Om Birla and Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar paid tributes to former members of both Houses at 11 AM.
Immediately after the obituary reference, Lok Sabha was adjourned till noon. Rajya Sabha continued with ministers' statements. But Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge demanded a discussion on the Adani issue. However, Dhankhar denied the request and adjourned the Rajya Sabha till 11:45 AM. When the House resumed proceedings, the Opposition raised slogans to press for their demand. This prompted Dhankhar to adjourn proceedings till 11 AM on Wednesday.
The Lok Sabha was promptly dismissed at noon right after proceedings resumed. Deputy Speaker Sandhya Ray adjourned the House after sloganeering by Opposition MPs.
