The City of Kamloops is inviting local non-profit organizations and societies to apply for grant funding that’s been made available for projects supporting community well being.

In a news release, the city said it is asking for applications for the 2025 Social and Community Development Grants. The application period opened Thursday, and will close at midnight on Nov. 7.

Applicants can request up to $30,000, which can go towards operational costs, special projects, special capital expenditures or one-year seed money for a social enterprise initiative.

The city said projects need to further specific priorities laid out in its social plan or address certain areas of focus in council’s strategic plan — including social supports, housing, inclusivity, a healthy community, or truth and reconciliation.

Projects must occur within Kamloops city limits, and should strengthen and enhance community well-being, address social and community issues or concerns, and be well-publicized in the community.

The city said it will be hosting an information session for applicants to explain the grant process and guidelines. Registered charities and non-profit societies are encouraged to register for the session, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Oct. 10.

Applicants will be told in late December if they have been approved for funding, and the awards will be made public in January 2025.

More information about the Social and Community Development Grants and the upcoming information session is available on the City of Kamloops website.
