Business will be the focus of the Tuesday night all-candidates forum in Nelson, and it’s your business as eligible voter to become informed ahead of the Oct. 19 B.C. Election.

Nelsonites (and Kootenay Central voters) can get up close and personal Tuesday night — 7 p.m. at the Prestige Lakeside Resort — with the latest roster of the Kootenay Central candidates for the 2024 B.C. Election.

With doors opening at 6:30 p.m., all four candidates for the riding that includes Nelson will partake in a pro-business forum — hosted by the Nelson and District Chamber of Commerce — moderated by chamber director Bob Hall and chamber business advisor Darren Davidson.

Both Hall and Davidson had worked for many years as journalists in Nelson (at the former Nelson Daily News) and will bring a slate of pre-determined questions designed to highlight the candidates’ views on how various government policies could impact and support business.

The issues stream on the themes of the cost of doing business, cutting red tape, public safety, forestry, housing, childcare, education, post-secondary education, healthcare and how the candidates may differ on climate change.

The chamber has noted that all four candidates have confirmed their presence, including: Brittny Anderson (NDP); Nicole Charlwood (B.C. Green Party); Corrine Mori (independent); and Kelly Vandenberghe (B.C. Conservative Party).
