Top cop given honour

Superintendent Beth McAndie of the Penticton South Okanagan Similkameen RCMP has recently received the Member of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces.

In a social media post this week, thelocal RCMP detachment shared the news, explaining the award is given to members for "achievements and contributions above and beyond the call of duty."

"The recognition is a national honour administered by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and is one of the most prestigious distinctions an employee of any police agency can receive," the post explained.

Superintendent McAndie was given the honour in Quebec City alongside a select group of RCMP colleagues from around the nation.
