GEDfest raises over $25k
by Madison Reeve · CastanetThe inaugural GEDfest YLW, held on Oct. 19 at Revelry Food and Music Hub, raised $25,005 for the KGH Foundation's cancer care program.
The event, which celebrated the legacy of Gord Downie and the music of The Tragically Hip, sold out.
Mark Shimmin, the Kelowna chapter head for GEDfest, expressed his gratitude for the community’s support.
“It was great to see everyone come together for such a worthy cause. We hit our target of $25,000 in our first year, and we look forward to many more successful events,” he said.
The lineup featured The Hip Replacements, a tribute act dedicated to The Tragically Hip.
The funds raised will directly support cancer care, benefiting over 7,500 patients who received cancer-related treatment at Kelowna General Hospital last year.
