Parking ticket scam warning
by Chelsea Powrie · CastanetPenticton bylaw services are warning of a potential scam circulating.
In a press release issued Monday, the City of Penticton said that residents have been getting text messages with requests for payment of unpaid parking tickets.
The texts are threatening in nature and ostensibly are designed to frighten the recipient into quick action.
However, the city does not ever send text messages requesting money.
"We will send you a letter on official letterhead asking you to pay any unpaid tickets," the press release reads.
Official information about how to pay city-issued tickets or make other payments can be found here.
