Sewer hook up hike

The District of Coldstream is raising the price of sewer connections.

At their regular meeting Monday, Coldstream council amended the sanitary sewer connection fees from $5,000 to $8,500 and requires developers pay the connection fee as part of a new subdivision or development service.

According to the council agenda, “There shall be a fee payable for access to the district sewer service, which may include the installation of a 100 mm diameter sanitary sewer service connection from the District’s main to the property line, in the amount of eight thousand five hundred per residential unit connected to the service.”

However, the bylaw exempts certain eligible properties from taxation for the year 2025.
