No weapons in assault

Mounties responded to a bush party in the North Westside after a receiving a report of an assault with a weapon.

Cpl. Tania Finn with the Vernon RCMP said officers responded to the report at about 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 28 after receiving the third-party report.

“Frontline officers located the victim at a nearby residence and confirmed an altercation had occurred between the victim and unknown persons at the party,” said Finn in an email.

The victim said no weapons were used or seen during the assault. Numerous witnesses interviewed by police all confirmed that no weapons were seen.

Finn says no one knew the identity of the suspect.

The victim was uninjured and did not want to proceed with an investigation.
