Sewing needle inside candy
by Casey Richardson · CastanetA concerned parent has alerted the Kelowna RCMP after finding a sewing needle when checking their child’s Halloween candy on Friday.
According to the police, it appears that the needle had been inserted into a small chewing candy and distributed to the child when they were trick-or-treating on Halloween night.
“Thankfully the discovery was made when the parent was inspecting the candies and the child was not hurt," Sergeant Judith Bertrand, Media Relation Officer said in a news release.
The family was in the area of Kneller Road and Hein Road in Kelowna when they were collecting candy.
“This is the only incident reported to police," added Bertrand. “But please remind your children not to eat treats until an adult has looked them over."
Kamloops RCMP were also called after a trick or treater found a razor blade inside a piece of candy this Halloween.
The RCMP are asking anyone who may have information about the incident to contact the Kelowna RCMP. Or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net.
