Bewigged man arrested
by Luc Rempel · CastanetSalmon Arm Mounties say an alleged shoplifter wearing a wig was caught by store employees and held until officers were able to arrive on scene.
According to RCMP, on Oct. 19, a man called police to report several civilians were holding down a man who attempted to steal from a business on 10 Avenue SW.
Police were told the man entered the store wearing a wig.
“The man attempted to purchase some product, but when his bank card was declined, he attempted to make a run for it with the products before being stopped by staff outside the store,” said Const. Andrew Hodges of the Salmon Arm RCMP.
RCMP took the man into custody upon their arrival and he was later released on conditions.
Salmon Arm RCMP said they have forwarded charges stemming from the incident to BC Prosecution for assessment.
