A grass fire near the Owl Road landfill off Valleyview Drive has been extinguished.

Kamloops firefighters and BC Wildfire Service crews were called to the fire just after 3:30 p.m. Crews remained at the scene of the fire to complete clean up just after 5 p.m.

"Thank you, everyone, for your patience as we worked in the area," the City of Kamloops said in a social media post.

Kamloops firefighters are being joined by BC Wildfire Service crews battling a grass fire in Valleyview.

Emergency crews were called just after 3:30 p.m. to an area near the Owl Road landfill off Valleyview Drive for a report of a fire.

“Kamloops Fire Rescue and BC Wildfire Service are currently responding to a grass fire in Valleyview near Owl Road,” the city said in a post on social media.

“Please avoid the area to allow room for crews to work."
