Using an RCMP helicopter, Mounties found and arrested a Vernon man driving a stolen truck in Spallumcheen on Monday.

On Oct. 15 at about 9:40 a.m., RCMP received a report that a vehicle stolen from a Vernon business the previous night had been found on Westside Road.

"The pickup truck was located by the owner who was tracking it using GPS and relaying the location to police,” reads a release from RCMP.

Mounties called in an Air Services helicopter to assist with locating the vehicle, and to co-ordinate with officers on the ground.

Frontline officers intercepted the vehicle after it turned onto Powerhouse Road in Spallumcheen, and the driver, and lone occupant, was arrested.

The 47-year old Vernon man is in custody where he faces a number of potential criminal charges.
