Fire chief for a day

Seven lucky elementary students got to be fire chief for a day thanks to a special event hosted by the Salmon Arm Fire Department.

The fire department hosted its annual Fire Chief for the Day event on Oct. 30.

Seven students were able to take part in experiences like spraying a real fire hose and going for a short flight aboard the Tower 3 ladder bucket with Salmon Arm Fire Chief Brad Shirley.

The event ended with a pizza party and small presentation.

In a Facebook post, the fire department thanked the schools and families involved in another successful event.
