The Westbank Lions will be hosting a fundraiser this weekend to help a young girl from West Kelowna.

Mia Culbert was born with a severe case of cerebral palsy, forcing her to live most of her life in a wheelchair, with impacts to her mobility, speech and hearing.

The young girl and her family are in need of a new vehicle for their many trips to BC Children's Hospital, where Mia receives care several times a year.

To this point there have been a number of fundraising events for Mia and her new ride, which costs more than $100,000.

"They’ve been doing a few things for us and have been amazingly supportive," said Mia's mother Teresa.

Mia’s Ride is raising funds to purchase a Toyota Sienna van with modifications for Mia, and the family has raised just less than 50 per cent of the total.

The Westbank Lions event is taking place Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. and will be held at 19 Okanagan Bar and Grill, which is located at 3509 Carrington Road.

The event will feature a five-course meal paired with five wines.
