Nelson Police is reaching out to the public for information following a string of vandalism by groups of teenagers in the Fairview area.

Nelson Police said the detachment has received several nighttime calls about these groups trying to break into parked vehicles, riding E-bikes or dirt bikes that aren’t street legal, harassing people, or generally causing a disturbance.

"In some instances, these youths have evaded police when confronted," said Nelson Police.

"These types of calls take up police resources and are a nuisance to the public."

Nelson Police said officers would prefer not to have to pursue charges against this group of individuals and request that parents and guardians pay attention to the behaviour of their adolescents so that it does not continue to escalate.

Toxic Drug Supply Awareness

Nelson Police said that recently officers have noticed an increase in drug overdoses, though fortunately no fatalities in the city.

Nelson Police said that local agencies in the community have also confirmed that there appears to be an especially dangerous supply of drugs currently going around in the area.

The Nelson Police Department urges extreme caution to members of the public to have drugs tested before using.
