Oliver fire crews were on the scene of an illegal burn Wednesday morning.

Deputy fire chief Rob Graham said crews arrived at a property on Road 3 off Highway 97 around 10:30 a.m.

"We called out for a report of a pruning pile that got away from a property owner that got away from the owner into some brush," Graham said.

"We arrived to a pruning pile that contains a large amount of materials that aren't allowed to be burned, treated posts, plastic containers and just general garbage."

Graham said the property owner will be issued a fine for the burning of illegal materials.

Agricultural burning is allowed as of today, Oct. 16, but Graham is clear that material needs to be natural.

He also added that it is a good idea to check the venting index in the morning and find out if conditions are good for a safe burn.
