Idris Elba Set to Star in Action-Thriller HAMMER DOWN From THE DARK KNIGHT Producer Charles Roven

Idris Elba (The Suicide Squad, Luthor) is set to star in the new action-thriller Hammer Down, which is being produced by Charles Roven (Oppenheimer, The Dark Knight trilogy) and Madison Weireter (Justice League) are producing for Atlas Entertainment, alongside Elba (Luther: The Fallen Son) and Gina Carter (See How They Run).

The synopsis reads: “Mac (Elba) is the best at what he does, driving a big rig truck across the country with a ‘no questions asked’ policy about the goods he transports.

“When he takes his tenacious teenage daughter along for a job, they are tracked and attacked by a relentless group of criminals that will stop at nothing to secure the consignment he has been entrusted to deliver.

“Pursued by merciless killers and with the police hot on their trail, Mac and his daughter must work together to prevent the cargo falling into dangerous hands and survive to live another day.”

The movie will be directed by Simon Hatt, James Gunn’s former assistant who went on to serve as co-producer on Suicide Squad and exec producer on Guardians Of The Galaxy. He also wrote the screenplay that is based on his own short.
