Work to build whole new town near Plymouth gets an excellence award
by Annette Belcher · PlymouthLiveA Taylor Wimpey site manager based at Sherford has received a Seal of Excellence award in a national housebuilding award scheme for the second year running. Mark Tranter has been recognised for his 'exceptional work' helping to create the new town of Sherford on Plymouth’s outskirts.
The site is where Taylor Wimpey is building homes across a number of phases. The Pride in the Job Awards are organised by the National House-Building Council (NHBC).
They recognise and reward a site manager’s dedication to achieving the highest standards in house building, as well as their commitment to building homes of outstanding quality.
The Seal of Excellence is one of the top honours handed out each year. Mark has won a Seal of Excellence in the South West region for the second year running following his success in 2023.
Mark said: “It’s an honour to have received the Seal of Excellence Award from the NHBC once again. I couldn’t be more proud. The whole team is passionate about building high quality homes and I’m delighted that our efforts have been recognised.”
Matthew Hemsley, Production Director at Taylor Wimpey Exeter, said: “Receiving a Seal of Excellence award for two years in a row is a fantastic achievement and a real testament to Mark’s dedication to building homes of the very highest quality for our customers. We are extremely proud of Mark and his team at Sherford.”
Steve Wood, CEO at the NHBC said: “For more than four decades, Pride in the Job has underpinned NHBC’s purpose of raising standards in house building. The competition recognises the UK’s top site managers, showcasing best practice and rewarding excellence.
“Winning site managers demonstrate dedication, passion and leadership to ensure new homes are delivered to exacting construction quality standards. While house building is a team effort, we believe the greatest influence on the quality of a finished home is the calibre of the site manager and the way they inspire their team. Congratulations to all the winners.”
