Man seriously injured in Plymouth city centre attack

A man was taken to hospital with a serious injury after being attacked in Plymouth. Devon and Cornwall Police was called to Courtenay Street at about 12.35am this morning (Friday, November 29).

A fight had reportedly broken out and a man, 35, was injured. Police said two men, both aged 21, were arrested on suspicion of assault and remain in custody.

A cordon was put in place in Courtenay Road at the junction with Royal Parade. Investigating police officers are continuing to appeal to the public for information.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at around 00:35am today, to Courtenay Street, following a report of an assault. It was reported that an altercation had taken place and one man, aged 35, had sustained a serious injury. He has been taken to hospital for treatment.

"Two men, aged 21, have been arrested on suspicion of assault and remain police custody. A scene guard remains in place while enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone with information which may assist our investigation is asked to contact police by calling 101 or via our website quoting log 27 of 29/11/24."
