Plymouth court list: 27 people face justice for variety of crimes
by Carl Eve · PlymouthLiveFor people who think Plymouth Magistrates' Court only deals with the lesser offences, they would be brought up short during a week in court.
Every single case begins in magistrates' court - including murders, rapes, possession of a firearm, terrorism, rioting. Matters which are considered 'indictable only' - the more serious offences which can only be tried at a Crown Court - may well start with a magistrates' court hearing, but they are then adjourned to the higher court.
However, that's not to say that some very serious offences begin and end at the lower court.
During the six days Plymouth Magistrates' Court was open - it also sits on a Saturday - there has been the usual slew of drink drivers, drug drivers, speedsters and disqualified drivers. The court also saw its fair share of shoplifters and attackers and a person who was found with a bolt action rifle - deemed a firearm under current legislation - without a firearm certificate.
The full list of latest cases are set out below.
