A body was found in a suitcase next to a drain in Taman Cheras Perdana, Selangor yesterday, 10 December
District police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the grim discovery was made at around 11.45am by a member of the public who noticed a foul stench emanating from it, reported the New Straits Times.
"A police forensic team and K-9 unit were sent to the scene to conduct further investigations," he said.
The police confirmed that the blue luggage bag contained the body of a man.
"Initial checks revealed the body was fully clothed but did not have any identification documents.
"The body has been sent to the Serdang Hospital Forensic Department for post-mortem examination," said Naazron.
A video of the suitcase, locked and tied with a red rope, went viral on social media.
Maggots can be seen crawling out of the slit in the bag, while flies buzz around it.
The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation to identify the suspect involved and piece together what transpired.
"We have opened investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
"Those with information on the case can contact Investigating Officer Assistant Superintendent Umesh Ratna Kumar at 012-611 4900," Naazron added.
