A man in Melaka was sentenced to jail for punching his younger sister in the face during an argument over a fart
MalaysiaGazette reported that the 37-year-old mechanic, Ridzuan Samsudin, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Khairunnisak Hassni at the Ayer Keroh Magistate's Court today, 20 September.
According to the charge, Ridzuan punched his sister, 32-year-old Nurul Hanis Samsudin, in the face, causing bleeding and swelling.
The incident occurred in the backseat of a car parked at a Lotus's supermarket on Jalan Peringgit, Melaka Tengah, at around 11am on 11 September.
It is said the argument began when Ridzuan farted and laughed, leading Nurul to reprimand him and raise past issues
Angered, he insulted her back and punched her multiple times in the nose and mouth.
A police report was filed by the sister, who received medical treatment at Melaka Hospital, where a doctor confirmed she suffered soft tissue injuries to her mouth, right cheek, and left part of her forehead.
The accused was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, which carries a penalty of up to two years in prison, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both
Deputy public prosecutor Wardah Ishhar called for a suitable punishment against the brother for causing injury to his sister.
Meanwhile, Ridzuan, unrepresented, requested for a lighter sentence, citing financial responsibilities to his wife and six children.
The court sentenced him to seven days in jail, starting from the date of his arrest on 14 September.
