Major drug haul in Kochi; one arrested

The Excise department seized what is claimed to be 33.61 grams of MDMA and 23.25 kg of ganja and arrested one person on Wednesday.

The arrested is Naushad K., 40, of Kannur. He allegedly sold narcotics in the guise of a gym trainer at Edappally. A portion of the drugs was seized from the gym and the rest from the apartment of an alleged accomplice at Edappally. An inquiry is under way against the alleged accomplice, identified as Vinod from Malappuram. He is on the run.

According to Excise officials, drugs are mostly smuggled in from Bengaluru, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh through intermediaries.
