Private engineering college managements in Andhra Pradesh seek release of fee reimbursement arrears
For the current academic year, they want the State government to ensure timely semester-wise disbursement of the amount
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduMembers of the Andhra Pradesh Private Engineering Colleges Managements’ Association (APPECMA) have urged the government to release the fee reimbursement arrears of the students to spare further financial distress to them.
A resolution to this effect was passed at the association’s general body meeting in Vijayawada on November 27.
They said, whenever there was a change of guard in the State, private engineering institutions suffered financial chaos due to the accumulated arrears under the fee reimbursement scheme and the prolonged delay on the part of the new government to make payments.
The members said that payment of the arrears pertaining to the academic year 2023-24 would enable them to play a pivotal role in the government’s endeavour to create 20 lakh jobs and promote a conducive ecosystem for employment generation.
For the current academic year (2024-25), they appealed to the government to ensure timely semester-wise release of the amount meant for students’ fee reimbursement.
The leaders said they would meet Minister for Human Resources Development N. Lokesh soon to draw his attention to the issue.
