Govt. allocates funds to 11 engineering colleges to establish laboratories
Labs for AI, robotics, IoT, EV technology, and additive manufacturing have been planned
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduThe Higher Education Department has allocated ₹12.38 crore to establish laboratories in 11 government engineering colleges.
Colleges in Karaikudi and Bodinayakanur will each receive ₹92.1 lakh to set up an internet of things (IoT) laboratory. A college each in Vellore, Thanjavur, and Tiruchi will each receive ₹1.16 crore to establish additive manufacturing laboratories. The objective is to bring together academics and industry, integrate research, and enable sustainable product development while minimising costs and increasing production.
The government engineering colleges in Coimbatore, Salem, and Bargur will receive ₹1.31 crore each to establish laboratories, where workshops and training in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics will be held. In the three government colleges in Tirunelveli, Dharmapuri, and Erode, electric vehicle (EV) technology laboratories will be established at a cost of ₹1.03.
