The batch of 1973-74 (B section) of Sri Baldevadas Kikani Vidya Mandir School will have a reunion meeting on the school premises on November 30.
About 30 students of the batch have refurbished the computer lab and physics lab in the school at ₹16 lakh. They will also give awards to six student toppers who appeared for public exam in 2023-24.
Workshop held
CARE T, a Coimbatore-based non governmental organisation, conducted a workshop on “Best Textile Model for Employees” recently. Advocate V. Aarthy, an expert on gender education, trained the participants on the procedures of internal complaints at workplace. She explained various legal instruments and compliance measures related to POSH Act and highlighted the need to improve the safety of the women employees at workplace and hostels.
T. Venkatesan, an academic expert on Human Resource Development, spoke on the best workplace management to improve productivity and social standards. S.M. Prithiviraj, Director, CARE T, explained the activities covered under Best Textile Model and stressed the need for the compliance of social standards in the textile supply chain, according to a press release.
Coimbatore Corporation plants over 8,310 palm seeds along Noyyal
Coimbatore Corporation has planted 8,310 palm seedlings along the banks of the Noyyal as part of a district-wide initiative to plant one lakh palm seedlings this year. On November 29, 2024, the Corporation Commissioner M. Sivakuru Prabhakaran, along with the Corporation workers, planted 1,100 seedlings at Kuthalampalayam Pond.
Grievances resolved in ESIC and EPFO Camps across four districts
The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) conducted joint outreach programmes under Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0 on November 27 addressing grievances of insured persons, employers, pensioners, and trade unions.
According to a press release, 150 participants attended the event in Coimbatore and 15 ESIC-related grievances were resolved on the spot. The session was chaired by ESIC Deputy Director M. Karthikeyan and EPFO Regional Provident Fund Commissioner Surendar Kumar.
Similar camps were held in Tiruppur, Erode, and Nilgiris districts. In Tiruppur, 70 participants attended, with 15 grievances addressed. In Erode, 40 attendees raised five concerns, all of which were resolved during the session. In Nilgiris, 50 participants submitted four grievances, which were also redressed on the spot.
