Insects found in food in ANU hostel in Guntur; students stage dharna
Students of Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur allege that the University officials did not respond even after the students took the matter to the notice of the faculty and other staff during lunch hour on November 29.
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduStudents of Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU), Guntur, staged a dharna alleging that poor quality food was being served in the hostel mess.
The students alleged that insects were found in rice and sambar while having lunch in the hostel mess on Friday (November 29, 2024)They squatted at the university main gate and raised slogans demanding quality food in the hostel.
“We complained about poor quality of food being served in the hostel mess. But, the university officials did not respond so far,” a girl student who participated in the protest, alleged. The protest continued till late in the night when reports last came in.
“Many students stopped taking food in the college hostel. Today afternoon all the students attended classes with empty stomach,” said another student preferring anonymity.
The ANU officials and the police officers rushed to the university and tried to pacify the protesting students
