Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna or S.M. Krishna, the former Chief Minister, one of the charismatic leaders Karnataka politics saw, and the visionary leader who put Bengaluru on the global map, was a coffee lover and always had a cup of coffee whenever he visited his village Somanahalli, located on the old Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway, which had the Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) outlet.

An employee of the outlet, who was serving coffee to people who had thronged the premises of the CCD outlet for the funeral of the former Chief Minister, who died in Bengaluru on Tuesday, recalled the leader’s love for coffee.

The guest house adjacent to the Coffee Day premises was the place where Mr. Krishna used to relax whenever he visited the village with his family.

Coffee was served for free to the people by the outlet.
