Two teams formed to track down suspected killer of Assam woman

Two special teams have been formed to locate Aarav Hanoy, the prime suspect in the murder of Maya Gogoi Deka murder on Tuesday (November 26). He is suspected to be on the run after allegedly murdering her at a serviced apartment in Indiranagar. The sleuths, who are analysing CCTV footage, found that he had hired a cab after walking out of the apartment.

According to the police, the duo met on social media and checked into the apartment on Saturday, November 23. He stayed in the room for three days and went out on Tuesday morning. The footage showed him walking out of the apartment with hands in his pockets, wearing a white colour cap at 8.19 a.m. He was wearing goggles and a cap all the time to avoid showing his face.

Meanwhile, the police are awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact time of the murder. They are also in touch with their counterparts from the neighbouring States.

The 19-year-old girl from Assam, was working as a student counsellor at a private firm at HSR Layout. She checked into The Royal Living at Indiranagar II Stage with Aarav Hanoy, 21, on November 23. Aarav walked out of the facility at 8.19 a.m. Tuesday. Hours later, staff at the apartment called the police, informing them of a foul smell emanating from the room. The police reached the facility along with the crime forensic team and broke open the door to find her lying on the bed, dead with stab injuries.

The deceased’s sister, who is the complainant in the case, reportedly told the police that Maya and Aarav knew each other well, and even the family members were aware. However, the motive of the murder is yet to be ascertained.
