AIADMK flays Speaker

Puducherry unit secretary of AIADMK A. Anbalgan has reiterated his charge against Mr. Selvam of flouting parliamentary conventions and rules. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, the party secretary said Mr. Selvam has been flouting parliamentary conventions and rules since he assumed the post of Speaker. He has been holding official level meetings, announcing schemes and attending party functions, the AIADMK leader said.

“Mr. Selvam has developed the practice of attending and chairing all Assembly committees. In the past, Speakers never used to chair or even attend Assembly Committee meetings. Mr. Selvam not only attends the meetings but also chairs the meetings of various committees. He should have allowed the Public Accounts Committee and Public Estimates Committee to hold the meeting held at Yanam on Monday but instead he preferred to chair the meeting,” Mr. Anbalagan said.
