Perambalur Rural police station becomes functional
The total number of law and order police stations in Perambalur district has now risen to nine
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduA new Perambalur Rural police station has become functional at Senjeri village taking the total number of law and order police stations in Perambalur district to nine. It is expected to ease the pressure on Perambalur Town police station. Thirty-three villages which were under limits of the Perambalur and Padalur police stations have now been brought under the jurisdiction of the new station.
The villages which come under the limits of the Perambalur Rural station include Esanai, Alambadi, Chathiramanai, Ladapuram, Ammapalayam, Kalarampatti, Nakkaselam, Bommanapadi, Senjeri, Sokkanathapuram, Mettur, Vellanur, Thambiranpatti, Ranganathapuram, Palayam, K. Pudur, Echampatti, Navalur, Melakadu, Adaikampatti and Mangoon.
The new station is headed by an Inspector of Police with personnel in the ranks of sub-inspector, head constable and constable attached to it. A detailed proposal for the creation of the Perambalur Rural Station was forwarded by the Perambalur district police authorities earlier to the Director-General of Police mentioning the manpower and infrastructure requirement and the territorial jurisdiction of the station.
The sources said Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had announced the creation of the new station in Perambalur district in the Legislative Assembly during the debate for grants in 2023.
The new station would be a “medium type” station, Superintendent of Police Adarsh Pachera, who inaugurated the police station, said.
The other law and order police stations in Perambalur district are Perambalur Town, Arumbavur, Maruvathur, Padalur, Mangalamedu, Kunnam, Kaikalathur, and V. Kalathur.
