Government launches high-level inquiry into question paper leak
The findings of the probe panel will be submitted to the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) for implementation.
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduThe General Education department has instituted a high-level inquiry into the leak of question papers for the half-yearly (Christmas) examinations on YouTube channels.
General Education Minister V. Sivankutty, who convened a meeting of senior officials to address the matter, announced that a committee led by the Director of General Education (DGE) Shanavas S. will probe the leak.
The panel will comprise M.I. Meenambika, Additional Secretary of the General Education Department; Shibu, Additional Director (General); Gireesh Cholayil, Joint Commissioner of Pareeksha Bhavan; Shajitha S., Joint Director (Academic) of Higher Secondary Education; and Dhanya, Deputy Director, Quality Improvement Programme. The committee is expected to probe the matter in detail and submit a report within a month.
Addressing a press conference, Mr. Sivankutty emphasised that necessary corrective measures will be adopted to prevent similar leaks, if any shortcomings are identified in the distribution of question papers.
The leak has also prompted a wider review of the examination process. The findings of the probe panel will be submitted to the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) for implementation.
Crime Branch probe
The announcements coincided with the decision of the State Police Chief Shaik Darvesh Saheb to hand over the investigation to the Crime Branch. The action was taken on the basis of a complaint submitted by the DGE.
The Crime Branch Head, Additional Director General of Police H. Venkatesh, will supervise the probe that is likely to extend across the State.
