Elephant parading: Devaswoms move SC 

Thiruvambadi and Paramekkavu Devaswoms, the main organisers of the Thrissur Pooram, have moved the Supreme Court of India demanding cancellation of the strict guidelines issued by the Kerala High Court on elephant parading during festivals and celebrations.

According to the petition by the Devaswoms, the guidelines of the High Court including minimum distance of 3 m between parading elephants was impractical and unscientific. Earlier, the High Court had refused to modify its guidelines on a petition by the Devaswoms.
