Artificial intelligence to be included soon in Tamil Nadu State syllabus, says Education Minister
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduArtificial Intelligence (AI) will soon be part of the Tamil Nadu State syllabus, said School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi after inaugurating the bi-monthly review meeting of Chief Educational Officers (CEOs) and District Educational Officers (DEOs) in Coimbatore on Monday.
Addressing the media after the event, the Minister said, “A special team within the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has been formed to incorporate AI and other technological advancements into the curriculum. This initiative is expected to be rolled out by next year.”
He also urged the CEOs and DEOs of districts with lower academic performance to work closely with headmasters, offering them the necessary support to improve results.
The review meeting is also aimed at assessing the implementation of key government initiatives, such as the Breakfast Scheme and Naan Mudhalvan, ensuring these programmes are effectively benefiting students.
Highlighting the importance of self-assessment, the Minister said that it would be key to development. He encouraged headmasters to evaluate their schools’ progress and consistently appreciate students for their achievements, whether at the district or State level.
The government has allocated funds to establish hi-tech laboratories in all government middle and high schools, upgrade computer systems, and replace outdated equipment. These initiatives are aimed at enhancing learning facilities for students, resulting in a steady increase in student pass percentages in public examinations each year, Mr. Poyyamozhi said.
