Railway contract worker hospitalised after suffering electric shock

A 32-year-old worker engaged in the fourth line project of Southern Railway is in critical condition after receiving an electric shock on Saturday. A senior official of the Government Railway Police (GRP) said N. Gajendran of Church Street in Arakkonam worked as a contract worker in the project being implemented between the Egmore and Chennai Beach stations. When Gajendran placed an aluminium ladder on a compound wall built as part of the project, he received an electric shock. He injured his legs, right hand, and head due to the electrocution. He was rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital and is under treatment. The Chennai Central GRP have filed a case and are investigating.
